Be The Change

Be the change. That idea is stated more and more frequently and, in this article, I want to explore what that really means for each of us. In being the change, we must identify what it is we want to change and set our intentions. Then, we can work on being it. So what is it that you would like to change?

I have been thinking a lot about what change I want to see in the world. I find that the world needs more love, the world needs soul searchers and people who are willing to get uncomfortable to stand for peace and equality, for holistic living. The world needs more open hearts, vulnerability, and caring people; people who stop and offer compassion and care for the suffering of others. We need more victors, not victims.

I dream of a society full of those who share vulnerability, kindness, and generosity with less ego and fear of persecution or feeling weak. I want to live in a world that equally gives and receives with each other. The change I want to see is self-knowledge and ownership of behaviors with compassion. I want to see self-love and unconditional worth that is not contingent on how productive a person is; to see love in complete totality being reciprocated in the world.

Now with my intention set, I am present and fully aware of this energy moving through my body and heart. I can feel that this energy is truly the power of love. Love opens my heart, offers me compassion, shows me my worth, and cares for me. This love has always and will always exist all around us. It is never gone no matter what is happening.

When we engage with, give, and receive love within ourselves, we can be the change. Offer yourself compassion, openness, cautious mindful care, and kindness. Create reciprocity within yourself. Embody love in every moment you can. We always have a choice to align with a change from fear to love. That is what it means to be the change.

Since the change most of us want to see is more love, let’s start with giving and receiving more love. Are you receiving? Can you receive a little more? Are you giving? Can you give a little more? The more love we give, the more we receive and feel oneness with others. Consider what you are giving and receiving within yourself and how you are relating within. If we are to be the change, we must start by looking at our own inner relationships and dialogue within.

When we set our clear intentions and put this mindful present moment awareness into ourselves, the world over time begins to change. We are each driving this change, one moment at a time, one step at a time. May you be inspired to be the change you want to see in every moment of your life.
